I found the workshop to be an incredibly engaging and insightful day that opened my eyes to a multitude of issues within the curriculum that I previously had not considered, such as education around sustainability and climate. I liked the concept of having many focus groups where students could choose which topic area they wanted to discuss further. I chose to join the Diversity and Inclusivity table where I was intrigued at the discussions we had and I really enjoyed hearing the experiences of students from all different backgrounds. Being a huge believer in meaningful youth engagement, this event spotlighted how innovative young people can be when they are given a genuine platform to use their voice.
Participating in the education reform roadshow transformed my understanding of educational policy. Hearing diverse student voices highlighted how essential our perspectives are in shaping meaningful change. In our focused group session on inclusivity and diversity in curriculum, we developed practical recommendations that will influence the Shadow Curriculum and Assessment Review report. This collaborative experience demonstrated the power of student input in creating more relevant and equitable learning environments for themselves and their peers.
