We know many children and young people (and adults) found it difficult to complete the Government’s Curriculum and Assessment Review ‘call for evidence’ survey as it was really long and had some challenging questions. Youth voice matters, especially when we will be affected by the changes that are made to what is taught in schools and how we learn. We have tried to keep the survey short and accessible for different ages, and hope you can express your thoughts, feelings, and ideas in our survey.
Sharing your views via social media
Answer one of the questions from the survey in a video, voice note, graphic, photo, picture or piece of writing, or any other format which helps you to express your views and ideas.
Share this by either sending to @youthshadowpanel on Instagram or post on your account with the hashtag #shadowCAR so we can find your submissions. We will be checking for this hashtag on Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn and Facebook.
Please note: for us to view posts which use the hashtag, profiles will need to be public. If your account is private and you wish for your content to be shared, please submit via the survey or message us on Instagram @youthshadowpanel
Why is this important and how does this link to the Government’s Curriculum and Assessment Review?
In summer 20024, the Government launched a Review of the national curriculum and assessment in England “to ensure they are fit for purpose and meeting the needs of children and young people”. This will lead to changes in what children and young people are taught and how they are assessed.
The Shadow Curriculum and Assessment Review is made up of young people and a group of youth organisations who represent the voices of millions of young people. We are united by a determination to support the inclusion of children and youth perspectives in the Government’s Curriculum and Assessment Review. What you submit via our survey or social media will contribute to the youth shadow panel discussions and shape our interim and final reports and recommendations. These reports will be published ahead of the Government’s reports, and our youth panel will share our key findings with the official Review. The Shadow panellists are keen to support and enhance the official Panel’s work by positioning young people as partners in their education. We are working constructively with the Department for Education to ensure the Shadow Review is useful, timely and representative of the voices of young people today, in a format that can feed into the Government’s Curriculum and Assessment Review.
